Yoga-thon in Times Square, New York

Yoga enthusiasts participated on 22nd June in the annual Summer Solstice in Times Square, New York, with a Yoga-thon. It may not be as peaceful as you do it in the garden in morning, but probably it's something different to do it right in the middle of Manhattan, New York City.

Discount Coupons to Save Money in Online Shopping

Searching for online shopping coupons while buying something online is pretty good way to save money. You know what, many of them are not even aware of it. They don't know that there is something like discount coupon codes or promo code thingy exists.

So I thought to spread the awareness about it and save some "global" money for my global friends.

There are many websites which get updated with latest coupon codes / discount codes, keepcash.com is one of them.

If you are not using online discount codes you're losing money. It's pretty easy to search for it. Let me take one example, if you are planning to buy something at Circuitcity online, you can simply add some circuit city discount codes and save few $$.

Either you directly click the links in there, the coupon code will be applied automatically or remember the discount code and insert it in there on the order page before you plug in your credit card number. And you save 10-15% on respective purchases or even more depending upon the purchase.

Ye Bandoo - Online Vegetables and Service at Your Doorstep

"Bhaiyya, Half KG Cauliflower, 1 KG Cabbage, Pav Kilo Bhendi, Half KG Matar dena jara",
the local vegetable waalah will pack this up for you and put the bags in your backseat of car or you latakaofy the bags on your bike and come home.

Now,
"Select Half KG Cauliflower, 1 KG Cabbage, Pav Kilo Bhendi, Half KG Matar", Add to the basket and click on Submit.
And the vegetables will be delivered at your home at your convenient time.

When I first listened about this website, Ye-Bandoo.com, I was surprised though I shall not be assuming I was expecting this to happen today or tomorrow looking at the internet growth in here.

Ye Bandoo (not 'Ye Bandu', okay!) has started their online vegetables and other services recently. Online bill payments was the "IN" thing last year, online "Sabji" shopping is "IN" thing this year. Don't get surprised to listen to this, the way I was for a second.

The moment I came to know about them, I registered on their website to check what all they have to offer, real fresh pictures of vegetables and fruits (When I saw the vegetables ad fruits delivered by them, I could see that not only the pictures are fresh on the website but the real thing too).

So once I registered with them, the next day I got a personal call from Mr. Sandeep of Ye-Bandoo.com to let me know that I was an activated member and I can shop online for the vegetables and fruits now. First, I was like, "Whatt, why he would need to activate me!". But then realized, it might be because the site is pretty new, and they must be checking out each registration personally and make sure that there are no fake registrations. I guarantee, after few days they would not be check it personally any more. Looking at the service they are providing, they would get enough registrations to handle.

I have registered and opted for weekly delivery of vegetables at my home, and I need not to listen to my wife's "Pingping" about "Ghar me sabji khatm ho gayee hain, chalo leke aate hain". And hey, if you are bothered about making payments online, no need to worry, right now the payments can be done over the weekend at your doorstep as per your convenience when you are home. Cool, innit!!

Take Care of Your Health in These Rainy Days

This is very useful write up read in news paper for our health care this upcoming rainy season. Stay healthy and stay away from all illnesses in this monsoon. Enjoy rain!

During monsoon eat only when hungry. Though overeating in the winters can be forgiven, doing it in this season is inviting indigestion and associated illnesses.

DO’S
Boil water: various health complications commonly experienced during monsoon can be averted by drinking boiled water.

Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly with clean warm water, mainly the leafy ones and cauliflower, which not only contain larvae and worms, but also collect dirt from the streets.

Use garlic, pepper, ginger and ginger powder (saunth), asafoetida (hing), turmeric, coriander and cumin seeds (jeera) in your daily cooking as these aid digestion.

Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty as dehydration is a possibility in this season.

DON’TS
Avoid eating out: street foods are strictly no-no. Ditto with eating cut fruits and juices from the roadside vendor. The unhygienic surroundings in such places are breeding grounds for bacteria.

Avoid eating food straight out of the fridge. Fresh foods are the best, but if you like to store cooked food in the fridge, heat it gradually and thoroughly before eating. During monsoon, the chances of bacteria in chilled food are higher.

Avoid fermented foods like idlis, dosas and dhoklas especially when eating out as these could lead to flatulence and gastric discomfort.

Discontinue eating raw veggies altogether.Monsoon is not a good time for salads. A note for weight watchers – Don’t give in to seasonal temptations; fried foods and starchy foods may indeed be very tempting, but restrict these to a once-a-week indulgence.

Visit to Amsterdam

Whenever I think of Europe, I always think of visiting Amsterdam once. Europe is much different than visiting USA in terms of lot of things. I believe you would not find beautiful canals running through the city center as there are in Amsterdam.

I think of Amsterdam fist, and it might be because one of my uncles visited Amsterdam when I was small and he had bought a lovely gift for me from there; A small wooden shoe.

For the not so regular travellers, you would need someone like easy to book to make the things simpler for your Amsterdam visit. This will help you out to book better hotels in there with cheaper rates. And if you are interested in other cities around, you can also check out Barcelona trips and Visit to Rome travel.

PAYjr Teen Card

Payjr has introduced a great item you should know about. It's a Teen Card.. actually it's like a credit card, but the parents deposit money into their account instead of them having a line of credit.

This teen card can totally control a teenager in the money spending. You can transfer the money to your son / daughter electronically when he or she really needed the money or when he is in emergency. Apart of it, you can check the account transactions to ensure your son didn't spend something unnecessary.

This is pretty good way to teach your kids the sensible use of credit cards, have them control their expenses right from now to make them self sufficient in this world.

Raj Imports Pune - Great Shopping Experience

We had been going to Raj Imports since last 1.5 years I believe. Since we visited them first time, we kinda became regular visitor and customer for Raj Imports. We came to know about this shop by one of our Aunt and we thank her lot of times really. Now, Vasant bhai [A nice owner of Raj imports] also knows us very well along with the persons working there.

I thought to write about them, cause I have a habit of reviewing stuff and publicize things which are really worth being publicized free. This normally helps people to get third person opinion about anything which I like to contribute to.

I visited Raj Imports today again to get few Yoga mats. We had seen Yoga mats there last time, so it clicked in my mind when we were talking about it this morning in our group.

Normally, you would get Yoga mats for 400 bucks to 500 bucks in mega malls like housefull and @homes. At times it's not a bad bargain, because you visit these malls regularly, and you can buy it with your regular shopping as well.

We got the same quality of Yoga mats for only 300 bucks (Rather 295) from Raj Imports. And we bought 3-4 of them for friends, so we almost saved 400 bucks today. Hurray! We got one yoga mat almost free if we would have bought it somewhere else.

Last time when we shopped at Raj, we almost ended up buying lot of crockery for my bar counter - right from Champagne glasses, Taquila shot glasses (RCR Crystal Glasses - cute ones) and flute and other variety. So if you want to really buy a very good crockery for your Bar counter, just check out Raj Imports once. [Here are their contact details - Well to give you a quick idea, it's very near to Apollo theater in Rasta Peth, and you can ask anyone there about "Indraprastha Complex" which is also famous for saree shops like Ganpathi Sarees and Gandhi Sarees]. Did I mention, that they have started keeping imported cosmetics and food items as well. I remember we shopped for so many perfumes and deos the other day, I liked Chrome and Ferrari too much and yes, they keep genuine things. [When it comes down to perfules, this is the first thing come into our mind, isn't it?]

Anyways, you will get very good bargains over there. But the important thing is not only saving money from this wholesale crockery cum imported stuff shop, but there are few more important & better things there.
  • Variety: They are good in it. They have good variety of crockery and other things
  • Service: Their service is pretty good, and you get lot of help from people working there.
  • There is no bargaining needed, as the prices are wholesale prices. So it gives us real shopping pleasure to concentrate on choosing things than deciding the real price.
  • They do call you up, (If you have given your phone number to them anytime) if there is SALE going on. [Well, this is really helpful, because they don't advertise in news papers or somewhere so it's difficult to know]
But yes there are some drawbacks as well -
  • You go there to buy a mat worth 300 bucks and you like so many other things that you end up buying 2000+ worth goods.. :-D.. So beware. Hehe, now we could have controlled here but then we could not in fact.
  • It's pretty much inside the city (Rasta Peth, near Appolo theater). Newcomers in Pune are always scared of "Peths" of Pune city. Because they get lost in the traffic and roads. So Raj imports might think of opening outlets in Pune.
  • Not many potential customers are aware of Raj Imports. May be because they don't spend a lot on news paper advertising like other malls, but the good thing here is, whatever publicity they have is by mouth-to-mouth publicity which is better publicity [You know it right!]. But still they can consider option of reaching more n more people in Pune.
Alright, see you next time with review of some more places around the world. Ciao.

Credit Cards - My Recommendation

Everyone of you might have used your credit card for online shopping. The thought of your credit card information being stolen must have brushed you, and nothing different in it. All of them think about it now or then while using the credit card online.

Sometimes due to unawareness of few online dangers, we don't follow basic rules while using the credit cards and get trapped in the online scams. Looking at the convenience of using the credit card for online shopping and getting the things done as quickly as rocket; it's a great benefit and it is adopted by our society as well.

Yes, but we have to make sure that we are alert enough to avoid any misuse of our credit cards. I had experience of my credit card information stolen and misused for three months without my notice (wrong thing on my part was I was lazy to check my credit card bills properly). The reason behind my credit card misuse was: I trapped myself in the offer of free rebate after one of the online shopping session. So you always have to make sure that your credit card is being used on secure websites.

You can shop online using your credit card safely by following few of these tips.
1. Download the most recent version of your Internet browser. This will give you the latest encryption capabilities added in the browser latest version to protect your information that is transmitted over the web.

2. Find out if the website is secure: the padlock icon on the status bar at the bottom of your browser window will tell you about it.

3. Try to shop from secure websites only, make sure that the websites URL is added with an "s" to http (https) that shows that the site is on a secure server.

4. Please make sure to review credit card and bank statements each month for any fraudulent charges unlike me (I had missed it in past as I mentioned above). If you notice anything weird, please contact the bank or credit company immediately.

5. Clean your computer with spyware detection and virus protection regularly. A firewall will protect your computer from spyware.

If you can follow all of these tips, you would be on safer side of using credit card online; Finally credit cards give you lot of benefits like credit card cash backs and Balance transfers across credit cards.

10 things you might have forgotten in your busy schedule

#1 Journey is the destination

By the time you reach your goals, your goals change. You go after them and the cycle repeats. This is not wrong but forgetting to enjoy the journey and treating that as the destination can help make this process more enjoyable. Think about your last big and successful project. If I ask you what you remember most about the project, it will rarely be what really happened when you just completed the project. Most people remember several memorable moments throughout the journey - good and bad. If this is the case, why not enjoy what you are going through in your current project(s)?

#2 It's always easy to solve somebody else's problems

When your friends have a problem, it looks so easy. Sometimes you wonder why your friends are even calling them "problems." It is true the other way around too. Your problems will look simpler for your friends. Rather than trying to analyze this, you can actually try to take advantage of this by simply asking for help to solve your problems or working with a mentor.

#3 You can't lose what you don't have.

This one rule has helped me go and try the most insane things in my life (in a good way.) Think about it. When you don't have something and you want to get it, the first thing to remember is that you don't have it yet. So you can't lose it. If you try and not get what you want, you won't be worse than where you are now today. So, most often trying only has an upside (except for the opportunity cost for the time) So why not try rather than not try?

#4 Long-term relationships take long time to build

Just like you can't have a baby in less than 9 months even if try to place a "rush" order with GOD, long-term relationhips take a long time to build. If you are young, you have a huge competitive advantage if you start building your network right now. If you are old, it's never too late to start anytime.

#5 The biggest risk is to not take any risk at all

If you don't step out of your home, you may not have the risk of meeting with an accident but you don't go anywhere either. They say risk and reward go together. One thing to remember is that taking a risk and being irresponsible are two separate things. I am not advising you to take the latter and label it as risk. Any action (or inacation) in your life has consequences associated with it. If you are irresponsible, there are consequences and they are probably bad ones.

#6 You may not be responsible for all your success

During our breakfast meeting today, Jeanne Urich at Adexta had a comment on this. She said many times it is just that "the rising tide lifts all boats." What happened in the valley between 1997 - 2000 was an aberration. Almost everyone was successful not because they were smart but because the market was so hot that people were buying anything and everything. Salespeople had become order takers. If someone was successful during that period and was attributing that success to solely his or her smartness, there would be a problem. You should develop the wisdom to know what you get from luck or smartness or a combination of both.

#7 Knowing is not doing but doing is doing

In the valley, if all the ideas that are floating become companies, I am sure there will be a few hundred companies created everyday. Having an idea and having an ability to execute on an idea are two different things. Think about it. How much effort do you need to put in to think about a new idea? How much risk do you have to take to continue to just "think" about an idea? Now compare that with what it takes to execute on an idea. Its a world of difference.

#8 The hardest thing to do is to keep a promise you make to yourself

People complain to me about bad bosses, company culture and economy and so many things. However, the biggest enemy that is making it hard to "win" is within themselves. If you can religiously keep the promises that you make to yourself, you will be a "different" person very soon.

#9 News takes the path of least resistance

Several leaders say that they don't get bad news easily. Only good news travels to them fast. When I ask them to remember those instances when bad news DID travel to them what was their reaction, there is a big silence. If you shoot the messenger when the message is bad, naturally the messenger is careful next time. When you don't hear bad news quickly, think about where the resistance points are and try to clear the them first.

#10 Either you succeed or you learn

I have wrote about this before too but it is worth re-visiting. When I ask people what are the chances that all their decisions will be right in the upcoming year, none of tell me 100%. Finally we settle down to 50-50 - meaning they are OK to have 50% of their decisions turn out to be right and 50% of their decisions turn out to be wrong. This is just fair. This will lead to some successes and some failures. At the concept level, people agree with this but when they ACTUALLY fail in something, they can't take it. When we go back to statistics, they say that it is true that 50% of the time they would fail. But they really can't handle failure.

Finding the Right Gift for Father’s Day

Finding the Right Gift for Father’s Day May Not Be as Hard as You Think

Give a Gift Dad Will Remember…Luxurious, Stylish, and Thoughtful

PALM BEACH , FLORIDA– (MAY 15, 2007) --Okay, so Father’s Day is right around the corner. Wondering what to get Dad? Neckties are often times considered the “stand-by” gift for guys but not anymore. More and more Dads are putting their best fashion foot forward with colorful neckties, as they know this simple accessory can make or break an outfit. Whether you are looking for the red power tie or sophisticated yet casual, there is a tie for every occasion. Give Dad a gift he will remember, something he can wear and treasure for years to come. Dad will feel extra special this year with a beautiful Italian necktie or pocket square from Belisi. With each Father’s Day purchase at Belisi, customers will receive free shipping with their orders. To qualify for free shipping, customers should visit Belisi.com.

Belisi ties are made with more silk per inch than the average tie, which creates a fuller necktie knot, the hallmark of true luxury silk neckties. They come in a variety of colors and styles, so it’s easy to select a thoughtful gift that any father would appreciate.

Pocket Squares, which are making a big comeback, also make excellent Father's Day gifts. Belisi pocket squares are oversized, made with a lavish thick silk and hand-rolled on the border. So if you want to give a unique gift for that special guy in your life, a pocket square fits the bill. Another reason ties are still a fresh gift idea is that men can wear ties that accessorize with their partner’s silk scarf, which she can wear tied around her neck or draped around her shoulders as a shawl, tied on her wrist, worn as a belt or handbag accessory or in her hair (a very hot trend right now).

Belisi Fashions remains steadfast in giving back to those less fortunate. Through the “Belisi Luxury with Meaning” program a minimum of 10 percent of the company’s pre-tax profits are donated to those in need. Keeping in-line with Belisi’s mission to create a community within a community, customers decide which charity to make their contribution. Some of the charities include: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association, and 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com.

Belisi was built on the philosophy that a tie or a scarf is more than an article of clothing—it completes your look. “There are plenty of Web sites where you can buy accessories but few where you feel like you’re a part of a fashion community,” affirms Peter Belisi of Belisi Fashions.

The Belisi brand is flourishing, and anticipates the release of its new luxury handbag collection in Fall ’07. As with all Belisi products, the handbag collection will feature extraordinary detailing including real gold hardware, soft treated Italian leather and brushed fabrics, plus many other exclusive features only available through www.Belisi.com.

About Belisi.com

Belisi.com is an online community where customers are “Insiders” instead of order numbers. Being an “Insider” means access to special privileges including free shipping, gift wrap on all orders and a designated place on the Belisi Insider’s Advisory Board. Belisi Insiders’ opinions are more than thoughts expressed in cyber space. Peter Belisi embraces each comment, suggestion or question and responds to his clients personally.
